A NEW ROUTE FOR GETTING OUT

Meet 10.30am for a cup of coffee at "The Mistley Quay Cafe", Mistley. Parking is either at Mistley Railway Station or on the street near the cafe. We board the 1117 service from Mistley to Manningtree, where the walk starts. A new route in pretty Constable Country. The walk will visit Flatford, including landmarks which featured in the painters' masterpieces. After a pause we return staying mostly by the River Stour to arrive at the cafe at approximately 1.15pm for a two course lunch.

FRIDAY, 6th NOVEMBER - EVENT CANCELLED. Very sorry to the handful that had booked for this walk but because of a very low number of confirmed bookings, this event has had to be cancelled.

A SPECIAL WALK PARTLY IN AID OF MACMILLAN CANCER SUPPORT
Another great opportunity to support this charity. There is a minimum charge of £6 for this special walk, £4 of which will be donated to MCS. Any donation in excess of £6 will also be give to MCS.

WALK CANCELLED! Unfortunately this walk has had to be cancelled owing to the number of confirmed bookings being below the minimum 72hours before the scheduled start. Apologies to those that had booked.
Several bookings were made AFTER the walk was called off. Had these bookings been made before the 3 day deadline, the walk would have gone ahead.

Meet and park 10.00am to pre-order food at "The Fox and Hounds", Free House, Felsham Road, Bradfield St.George. This route includes a variety of open countryside, meadows and pretty woodland trails. Returning to the pub for lunch and refreshments at approximately 1.15pm. Pub post code IP30 0AB.

This is the final walk scheduled partly for the benefit of Macmillan Cancer Support. The original target of £1,000 has been well passed. The amount raised so far sits at £1,385!. Many thanks to all of you who have supported the "Getting Out" campaign to raise money for this charity. I know that several who have joined the Macmillan walks are perhaps not regular walkers and some of the distances proved challenging for some, a special thanks to those participants. It is hoped to officially present a cheque to Macmillan Cancer Support at the "Getting Out" party to be staged towards the end of February 2010.

Meet and park 10.10am to pre-order food at "The Kings Head Inn", East Bergholt. This is probably "GO's" finest woodland route, featuring a number of undulating tracks through meadows and some ancient woodland. It promises to be a colourful walk, even perhaps many leaves have left the branches because of the exceptionally dry summer. We shall stop part way round for refreshments at "The Royal Oak", public house, East End, before continuing the walk as we journey back to "The Kings Head" for lunch at approximately 1.30pm. POST EVENT REVIEW - Our best attendance for a while and the first walk this month after two cancellations due to low bookings. Many thanks to all who joined the walk today. It was a perfect day for walking and the weather stayed dry and mild for us. Thank you as well to Phil, Angie and staff at The Kings Head Inn, East Bergholt for great food and drink and congratulations to you both upon your new arrival. Thanks also to The Dicky at East End for drinks part way round.

Meet and park 10.10am to pre-order food at "The Magpie", Public House, Little Stonham (on A140). The starting point for this walk conceals a scenic, undulating route, giving excellent views across mid Suffolk vales and countryside. returning to the pub for lunch at approximately 1pm. Pub post code IP14 5JY.

POST EVENT REVIEW - Excellent winter walking weather - dry and bracing and not too muddy, even though it has been a wet November in East anglia. Thank you Mark and staff at The Magpie for good food and drink.
