Saturday 6th March 2010, BLAXHALL - BLAXHALL HEATH, Start 10.30am, Distance 5miles. WALK RE-SCHEDULED FROM 19th DECEMBER 2009 PLEASE BOOK BY WEDNESDAY, 3rd MARCH. Meet and park 10.10am to pre-order food at "The Ship Inn", Blaxhall. Originally scheduled in December 2009 but postponed because heavy snow made this rural location inaccessible. A significant part of this route passes through the picturesque Tunstall Forest - should be an excellent walk for early Spring. . Returning to the pub for lunch at approximately 12.45pm. Pub post code is IP12 2DY. POST EVENT REVIEW - Weather was cold but dry with some sunshine towards middle and end of walk. Herd of deer close by in the forest. Thanks to Dave and staff at The Ship for some really tasty food and drink.

Saturday 13th March 2010, RAMSHOLT - SHOTTISHAM, Start 10.30am, Distance 7miles. PLEASE BOOK BY WEDNESDAY, 10th MARCH. Meet and park 10.10am to pre-order food at "The Ramsholt Arms", public house, Ramsholt. Walk highlights a peaceful and superb section overlooking the River Deben, which is rich in bird life at most times of the year but especially so during late winter/early spring. Time allowing, we will pause part way for refreshments at "The Sorrel Horse" at Shottisham before returning to The Ramsholt Arms for lunch and refreshments at approximately 1.45pm. Pub post code is IP12 3AB. WALK CANCELLED! I am very sorry to disappoint but there is just a handful that have booked for this glorious route by the Deben and the weather looks set to be fine for Saturday. I have held booking open until this morning (Friday 12th March) but the numbers are still painfully low. So an inevitable cancellation I am afarid.

Saturday 20th March 2010, POLSTEAD - GROTON WOOD, Start 10.30am, Distance 6.5miles. PLEASE BOOK BY WEDNESDAY, 17th MARCH. A NEW ROUTE FOR GETTING OUT Meet and park 10.10am to pre-order food at "The Brewers Arms", public house, Polstead (Bower House Tye). The first of two entirely new routes visiting a new host pub. There are good views across undulating landscape at the start. Walk also includes a visit to SWT-managed Groton Wood part way and a delightful hedge-lined green lane at the end. Returning to the pub for lunch and refreshments at approximately 1.15pm. Pub post code is CO6 5BZ. POST EVENT REVIEW - A small group today considering this was a new route and new host pub. Weather almost stayed dry throughout with just a little bit of light drizzle. It certainly didn't spoil the day. Thanks to Mitch and staff at the pub for your very attentive service. PERSONAL NOTE - mobility restricted (hopefully only for a short while) because of transport problems. It is now even more essential that all persons book for walks no later than 9am on the Wednesday before. Many thanks, Alan.

Saturday 27th March 2010, EAST BERGHOLT - STRATFORD St.MARY, Start 10.30am, Distance 6.5miles. PLEASE BOOK BY WEDNESDAY, 24th MARCH. Meet and park 10.10am to pre-order food at "The Kings Head Inn", East Bergholt. This splendidly iconic meadow route visits Willy Lott's Cottage, the mills of Flatford and Dedham with lengthy sections by the River Stour. A historic walk deep in the heart of the most famous Constable landscape. Returning to the pub for lunch and refreshments at approximately 1.15pm. Pub post code is CO7 6TL. POST EVENT REVIEW - Fabulous views in a most beautiful part of Suffolk/Essex. The weather didn't remain entirely dry for this walk with a few light showers. Thanks to all who attended and Phil and Angie at The Kings Head for some great food and drink.
