A great way to start the walking year in this picturesque part of West Suffolk. Getting Out would like to wish all participants a very happy and prosperous new year!.
Meet and park 10.15am for coffee and to pre-order food at "The Fox and Hounds", Free House, Bradfield St.George. This route includes a variety of open countryside, meadows and pretty woodland trails. Returning to the pub for lunch and refreshments at approximately 1.45pm. Pub post code is IP30 0AB.

POST EVENT REVIEW - A beautifully sunny, cold and crisp day for walking. Unfortunately just 13 takers for the event! Thanks to Dave and staff at "The Fox and Hounds" for some wholesome hot food.

Meet and park 10.10am at "The Fountain", public house, Tuddenham St.Martin. there will be no need to pre-order food. A walk featuring open countryside and part of the "missing link" on the Fynn Valley route. returning to the pub for lunch and refreshments at approximately 12.15pm. Pub post code is IP6 9BT.

POST EVENT REVIEW - What a lovely day out this proved to be. 15 brave walkers turned out for this event and were rewarded with a fabulous winter landscape. My thanks to each and everyone of you for making the effort and what a shame the staff at The Fountain, Tuddenham didn't show the same adventurous spirit by arriving for work. Sadly no one was available to cook or serve us beer, a massive disappointment to all including the landlord, who was left to give us the sad news when we arrived but GO walkers are a tenacious group. We dined and refreshed at The Swan in Westerfield instead - my thanks to the welcoming landlord and staff. You will definitely see us again.

Meet and park 10.10am to pre-order at "The Red Lion", Freehouse, Chelmondiston (formerly "The Venture"). This is one of the most outstanding routes by the Orwell. A shorter version of last years walk but retaining all the historic charm of the little changed location at Pin Mill and the National Trust woodland. returning to the pub for lunch and refreshments at approximately 12.45pm. Pub post code is IP9 1DX.

POST EVENT REVIEW - a wet Saturday but thanks to a few brave die-hards, the walk was able to proceed. Thank you as well to Sharon, Ian and staff at The Red Lion for a warm welcome and some hot tasty food. We will be back.

A NEW ROUTE FOR GETTING OUT
Meet and park 9.45am for coffee and to pre-order food at "The White Horse", public house, Westleton. This fabulous new route takes in some of the best forest trails and heath tracks through both Dunwich and Westleton Heaths. We shall also stop part way at the Minsmere Cliff National trust Tea Room for refreshments. returning to the pub for lunch and refreshments at approximately 1.45pm.

POST EVENT REVIEW - An excellent turn out of 33 persons for this walk, by far the best attendance for many weeks. Weather remained dry but overcast throughout. Ground conditions for this region of Suffolk are always good even during winter months and this proved to be so today. Many thanks to all who supported todays walk and thank you as well to the staff at The White Horse for serving us so efficiently with hot and wholesome food upon our return.

Meet and park 10.10am to pre-order food at "The Hand in Hand", public house, Trimley St.Martin, now under new management. It was November 2000 when "GO" last scheduled this route, featuring a nature reserve and great views across the River Orwell. returning to the pub for lunch and refreshments at approximately 1pm. Pub post code is IP11 0RL.

POST EVENT REVIEW - A cold but dry and sunny day with some fabulous views across the Orwell estuary. A little over-night snow remained on a mostly frozen ground. Many thanks to all who supported the walk today and thank you to Anita and David at the Hand In Hand for some very welcome hot and tasty food.
