Thursday, 5th June 2008 Swilland - Witnesham Start 7.15pm, Distance 3.5miles EVENING WALK NEW ROUTE
Meet and park 6.55pm to pre-order food at "The Moon & Mushroom", Freehouse, Swilland. Another new evening route for "GO" featuring open countryside with good views. Returning to the pub for food at approximately 8.45pm. Pub post code is IP6 9LR.

Post Event Review A very still and quite warm evening. All the footpaths on our route had been recently cut, so there was virtually no long grass - thank you, whoever that person was! Lady at Newton Hall was quite insistent that we wait before proceeding along footpath which passes into an area where horses were jumping. The issue was resolved by skirting around the meadow in question, saving both time and providing a better walking option. I didn't eat at the pub but, there were some mixed opinions about the food. However, I can definitely confirm that "Hopleaf" was a great pint. Thank you Nikki, Martin and your staff.

Post Event Review A good turn out for this evening walk with ground conditions mostly good but just a little bit of mud on one of bridle ways. Horses were very curious about a sudden emergence of a large group of people as we passed by the grazing meadows at Levington. Beautiful scenes by the River Orwell, just after high tide. Many thanks to Mark and your very attentive staff for looking after our food and drink needs for the evening. We shall see you again later in the year.

Post Even Review:- This proved to be a great day out. Our brewery tour guide provided us with some very interesting information about brewing and the production of wine. We were able to taste a number of wines and beers before beginning our 6mile walk around the eastern section of this pretty island. The weather was mostly dry, warm and sunny throughout. Upon our return we enjoyed the most sumptuous buffet spread whilst relaxing in the warm sunshine. Many thanks to Roger and Mark at The Mersea Island Vineyard and Brewery and to Joyce and all her staff at the café for helping to make our day such an enjoyable one. We shall certainly return at some point in the future". See "Events" for pictorial review

Thursday, 19th June 2008 East Bergholt - Flatford Start 7.15pm, Distance 4.5miles EVENING WALK

Thursday, 19th June 2008 East Bergholt - Flatford Start 7.15pm, Distance 4.5miles EVENING WALK
Meet and park 6.55pm to pre-order food at "The Kings Head Inn", East Bergholt. Walking through a virtually unchanged and historic Constable beauty spot. Passing the famous Willy Lott's Cottage and Flatford Mill both immortalised by the artist. Returning to the pub for food at approximately 9pm. Pub post code is CO7 6TL.

POST EVENT REVIEW
The route had to be altered due to an overgrown footpath, reducing the mileage to 3.5miles but this gave the group more time to enjoy the history at Flatford with Willy Lott's Cottage bathed in "photographers light" with a near perfect reflection in the water. I don't think I have ever seen this scene looking so wonderful. One could almost imagine JC sitting there with pad and pencil. Thank you everyone for making this such an enjoyable experience and thank you Phil and attentive staff at The Kings Head Inn for providing us with excellent food and making the evening complete. We shall, of course see you again later in the year.
