Norfolk Big Day Out

ANOTHER BIG DAY OUT IN NORTH NORFOLK

The weather co-operated completely this year. The day was chosen to coincide with low water during the middle of the afternoon, providing paddle-time on soft sand and a most pleasant section along the cooling waters back to Sheringham. North Norfolk Railway, as always, took us back fifty years or so when steam ruled as traction on this picturesque railway, known now as The Poppy Line. The Kelling Tea Room with its interesting collection of paintings and by-gone artifacts gave us the opportunity to rest and enjoy a light lunch. The Windham Arms public house at Sheringham was our host pub for the day, providing an evening meal before National Express Rail took us back to Suffolk and Essex. Thanks to all who supported the event this year and to those who helped make this a great and relaxing day out.
Just to update you on "The Crossing Project" at Sheringham. The latest information is that, it is definitely now going ahead, which means during the winter of 2009/10, the NNR will be linked once again to main-line metals. Perhaps more significantly, the Britannia Class "OLIVER CROMWELL" will visit NNR during next March on a steam excursion starting from London Liverpool Street. Getting Out hopes to be involved in this special day. Please keep in touch with this web page for further information.
