"GO's" OFFICIAL 2009 BLUEBELL WALK
Meet and park 10.10am to pre-order food at "The Old Queens Head", public house, Ford Street, situated on A1124. A picturesque walk in the Colne Valley, visiting one of the finest Bluebell Woods in the Suffolk/Essex area. Let's hope our timing with nature is right! Returning to the pub for lunch at approximately 1pm. Post code for pub CO6 3PH.

POST EVENT REVIEW - A fabulous and stunning display of scented Bluebells in this wood. Visited on a perfect Spring day with just the right amount of shade and lots of birdsong. Many thanks to Julia and staff for dealing with such a large group of hungry walkers so efficiently.

A NEW ROUTE FOR GETTING OUT
EVENING WALK
Meet 6.25pm at Mistley Quay Cafe to pre-order our food choice. Parking will mostly be on the street near the cafe. A special evening walk where "GO" will have exclusive use of the cafe. This pretty route will include many interesting features of the area as well as a trip through a Bluebell Wood. Returning to the cafe for the evening meal at approximately 8.15pm. POST EVENT REVIEW - A perfect late spring evening for "GO's" first 2009 thursday evening walk. A small but lively group enjoyed some delicious food at The Mistley Quay Cafe. Many thanks to Esther and staff for making our visit such an enjoyable one. We will be back!

GARDENS AND RESTAURANT ARE OPEN EXCLUSIVELY FOR GETTING OUT ON THIS DAY
Meet and park 10.00am at Helmingham Hall. This walk starts from the beautiful Helmingham Park where deer can be seen. The route takes in tracks, bridleways and trails. Returning to the restaurant for lunch at approximately 1pm. If you are having lunch this must be ordered and paid for in advance by 6th May. There will also be an opportunity to visit the gardens, with tea and cakes available at 4pm for an additional charge. Cost £4 (WALK ONLY), £11 (WALK AND LUNCH), £15 (WALK, LUNCH AND GARDEN). POST EVENT REVIEW - A great day out for all. Ground conditions for the walk were dry and weather ideal. Sumptuous buffet lunch, followed by a leisurely stroll in the beautiful gardens of Helmingham Hall. A big thank you to all who attended and a special thanks to Lord and Lady Tollemache for making the venue exclusively available to Getting Out for the day. Thank you as well to the staff for helping to ensure our time at Helmingham was such a memorable and immensely enjoyable one.

Meet and park 10.10am to pre-order food at "The Shepherd & Dog", public house, Langham. Some superb meadows routes, open countryside, part of the Essex Way and good views of the Stour Valley. Returning to the pub for lunch at approximately 12.45pm. Pub post code CO4 5NR.

POST EVENT REVIEW - Weather - a bit windy but nonetheless dry with some sunshine. Some impressive views looking over the Stour Valley. Unexpected display of Bluebells at the end of this walk. Thanks to all staff at The Shepherd and Dog for serving us so efficiently with great food and drink. We will be back.

A peaceful walk along the River Brett with a descent through a nature reserve. returning to the pub for food and refreshments at approximately 8.45pm. "GO" Walkers are invited to join the pub trivia quiz starting around 9pm. Pub post code IP7 6DB.

POST EVENT REVIEW - Some classic English countryside scenes on this evening walk with the low sun producing excellent light for photography. Thank you to The White Hart for providing a good variety of food choices and well done to our quiz team who came a credible third place from six teams.

A SPECIAL WALK IN AID OF MACMILLAN CANCER SUPPORT
Another great opportunity to support this charity. All today's walk fees will be donated to Macmillan Cancer Support. Please feel free to donate as appropriate. Diners should book as early as possible for this walk as dining spaces will be limited.
Meet and park 9.55am to pre-order food at "The Chequers Inn", Great Blakenham. A stunning route, featuring aspects of The Gipping Valley not often seen on "GO" walks. Mostly meadows, tracks, picturesque footpaths and a superb 3mile section by the Gipping. Returning to the pub for lunch at approximately 1.15pm. Pub post code IP6 0LP.
ONCE AGAIN IT IS HOPED TO RAISE BETWEEN £150 and £200 TODAY. IF YOU WISH TO MAKE A LARGER DONATION THAN THE USUAL £4 WALK FEE, THIS WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED.

POST EVENT REVIEW - A great day for all concerned. Many thanks to all who walked and supported this event. £320.00 was raised to be added to the £623.00 from the previous two Macmillan Cancer Support walks. A special thanks to Jerry and Jackie for the wonderful cakes and cards which raised £62.00. The grand total from three walks now stands at £943.00, just £57.00 short of the target for the whole of 2009 and there are still three more Macmillan Cancer Support walks to follow. Well done too to David and staff at The Chequers for some good food and prompt service.

POST EVENT REVIEW - A small group enjoyed this pretty woodland walk this evening. There were even a few Bluebells just about in bloom. Good value food at The Golf Hotel.

Meet 9.55am to pre-order food at "The Victoria", public house, Earl Soham. Please park at the nearby Baptist Church. Walk includes meadows, woodland sections and open countryside. Returning to the pub for lunch at approximately 1pm. Pub post code IP13 7RL.

POST EVENT REVIEW - It was decided to go ahead with this walk as booking cancellations came too late to call off. A great day for walking - very warm and ground conditions were just right, although we did manage to find the only bit of mud in Suffolk! Thanks to Paul and staff for some delicious food and thirst quenching refreshments.
