Holiday Monday, 2nd January 2012, BUTLEY - CAPEL St.ANDREW, Start 10.30am, Distance 6.5miles. PLEASE BOOK BY FRIDAY 30th DECEMBER UPDATE (26th December). ALL DINERS MUST BOOK BY 29th DECEMBER Meet and park 10.10am to pre-order food at The Oyster Inn, Butley. It’s over three years since this route was last featured. The walk includes open countryside, paths close to Rendlesham Forest, pretty grazing meadows and visiting the Butley River. Returning to the pub for lunch at approximately 1.15pm. Please see pub advertisement for post code. POST EVENT REVIEW - A perfect day for a winter walk - dry and sunny throughout. Thanks to all who supported the event. And here is wishing all GO walkers a happy and peaceful New Year. My thanks as well to the staff of The Oyster Inn at Butley for efficiently serving all who dined.

Saturday, 14th January 2012, NAYLAND - WISSINGTON, Start 10.30am, Distance 5.5miles PLEASE BOOK BY WEDNESDAY 11th JANUARY Meet and park 10.10am to pre-order food at The Anchor Inn, Nayland. It was Saturday 7th November 1998 when this walk last appeared on the Getting Out schedule. From the picturesque Suffolk village of Nayland, the route closely follows the River Stour, combining meadows, woodlands and undulating open countryside. Returning to the pub for lunch and refreshments at approximately 1pm. Pub post code is CO6 4JL. POST EVENT REVIEW - A fabulous morning for a winter walk. Frosty start but we soon warmed in the bright winter sunshine. The biggest attendance since April 2011. Many thanks to you all for helping to support the group. It really was a beautiful day to be out. My thanks also to Sophie and other staff at The Anchor in Nayland for dealing with our food and drink requirements with minimal fuss. We would like to return later during the year.

Saturday, 28th January 2012, WESTLETON - DUNWICH (via Minsmere Cliffs), Start 10.30am, Distance 7miles. PLEASE BOOK BY WEDNESDAY 25th JANUARY Meet and park 10.10am to pre-order food at The White Horse, public house, Westleton. Only the second time this walk has featured on any Getting Out schedule. Route includes some of the best forest trails and heath tracks through both Dunwich and Westleton Heaths. We shall pause part way at the Minsmere Cliff National Trust Tea Room for refreshments. Returning to the pub for lunch and refreshments at approximately 1.45pm. See pub advertisement for post code. POST EVENT REVIEW - Yet another mostly bright, albeit cold but sunny day. Three GPS devices on the walk today and they all varied in the mileage totals for this route from 6.5 to 7.5miles giving an average distance of 7miles. A very happy and light-hearted atmosphere on this outing today with three new faces. It is always good to see newcomers to the group. Thank you to all who supported the event, I am always very appreciative of those who help to make the group such a sociably, enjoyable experience. My grateful thanks to Jenny, Rick and Naomi at The White Horse Inn for providing wholesome food for lunch. Thanks also to the NT staff at the Minsmere Cliff cafe.
