GETTING OUT WOULD LIKE TO TAKE THIS OPPORTUNITY TO WISH ALL WALKERS A VERY HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Meet and park 10.40am to pre-order food at "The Manger", public house, Bradfield Combust, situated on A134, near Bury St.Edmunds. An interesting variety of open countryside with a particularly pretty section along a former railway line. Returning to the pub for lunch at approximately 1.30pm. Pub post code is IP30 0LW.

POST EVENT REVIEW - The weather was very cold and the skies were grey...and there was a bit of mud BUT nonetheless there was much laughter and enjoyment in spite of the somewhat chilly day. Most of the 24 participants stayed for a meal after as the party atmosphere continued at the pub. Many thanks to Janice and staff at "The Manger" for helping to make our day such an enjoyable one. Happy New Year to all concerned!

Meet and park 10.10am to pre-order food at "The Parrot and Punchbowl Inn", Aldringham. This walk features open countryside, pretty heath and woodland sections along with a former railway. returning to the pub for lunch at approximately 1pm. Pub post code is IP16 4PY.

POST EVENT REVIEW - The hoar frost provided some amazingly stunning scenes on this walk. Despite the sub-zero temperatures, the weather was dry and sunny and needless to say the ground frozen solid - so no mud! Many thanks to all who took part and especially to Sheila and her staff at The Parrot and Punchbowl in Aldringham for serving us all with hot tasty food and refreshments - we shall be back!

THIS WALK HAS BEEN RE-SCHEDULED FROM SATURDAY, 29th NOVEMBER 2008.

Meet 10.10am to pre-order food at "The Fox Inn", Newbourne, parking at the Newbourne Springs Nature reserve car park where possible. Mixture of open countryside, featuring the picturesque and tranquil setting of the Nature Reserve at the conclusion of this walk. Returning to the pub for lunch at approximately 12.45pm. Pub post code is IP12 4NY.

POST EVENT REVIEW - The rain clouds cleared just before the start of this walk to leave us with a sunny but windy morning. A most enjoyable section through the nature reserve and across heathland out to Martlesham. Many thanks to all staff at The Fox Inn for serving us very promptly upon our return with hot and tasty food. We shall return at some point during the course of 2009!

Meet and park 10.10am to pre-order food at "The Dog", public house, Grundisburgh. Route features a mixture of open countryside, woodland and meadows with excellent views across The Fynn Valley. Returning to the pub for lunch at approximately 1.15pm. Pub post code is IP13 6TA.

POST EVENT REVIEW - It was thought that recent heavy rain might have made some of the meadow stretches on this walk impassable, resulting in the need to re-route parts of the walk. Despite some muddy areas, the scheduled route was OK. Many favourable comments from participants. Thank you James, Charles and staff at The Dog for making our visit an enjoyable one. The excellent quality food was served promptly upon our return. We will be back.

A NEW ROUTE FOR GETTING OUT

Meet 10.10am to pre-order food at "The Butt & Oyster Inn", Pin Mill. Please use Pay and Display car park off Pin Mill Lane or the Chelmondiston Village car park near "The Red Lion" public house. One of the prettiest routes by the Orwell. This walk, a variation on a March 2007 route features a long section by the River Orwell from the historic location of Pin Mill. Returning to the pub for lunch at approximately 1.15pm. Pub post code is IP9 1JW.

POST EVENT REVIEW - A beautiful sunny, dry but cold day with a stiff breeze following us back along the River Orwell. Some superb views across the river. Ground conditions - just a bit muddy in places. Thanks to the staff at The Butt & Oyster, great food served promptly considering the size of the dining party.
