A warm welcome to Getting Out online, offering guided walks for all the family in picturesque Suffolk and bordering countryside. Walking holidays in The Cotswolds or Yorkshire Dales and Cumbria are also annual events.
How many times have you wanted to go walking in the countryside BUT were worried about losing your way? Let the GETTING OUT guide take care of that for you! All you need to do is book at least 2 days in advance for the walk for non-diners, 3 days or more if you wish to dine at the pub , find the walk's starting place, then relax and enjoy some pretty countryside walking in Suffolk, Essex or parts of Norfolk. Walking boots or strong shoes are advisable.
"GETTING OUT" is NOT a club, so there are no MEMBERSHIP FEES. You simply pay £4.00 per adult at the beginning of the walk. Children are welcome if accompanied by an adult. Under 16's are free.
How often do GETTING OUT guided walks take place and where can I find out this information?
Most Saturdays throughout the year, some Public holidays and on Thursday evenings from mid-May to mid-August. Brochures are available on the walks and from the following Tourist Information Centres.....
Aldeburgh, Braintree, Bury, ** Chelmsford (VIC), Colchester (VIC), Diss, Felixstowe, Flatford, Harwich, Ipswich, Lavenham, Lowestoft, ** Maldon, Newmarket, Snape (VIC), ** Southend-on-Sea, Southwold, Stowmarket, Sudbury, Woodbridge, along with the Ipswich Museum, some Post Offices in Suffolk and all libraries in the county of Suffolk.
Will the walk always go ahead, even when the weather is wet?
Sometimes yes. Providing the weather isn’t too extreme and there are enough confirmed bookings, then the walk will proceed as scheduled. If a walk is postponed it is mostly due to booking cancellations. A minimum of 12 confirmed bookings (15 for some walks) is required 48hours prior to the walk’s scheduled start.
