A NORFOLK DAY OUT, Saturday 2nd August 2008
The weather didn't completely co-operate on this annual event but most of the heavy rain fell during our tea shop break at Kelling. The nostalgic steam train ride from Sheringham to Holt and Weybourne on the North Norfolk Railway was most memorable. Weather brightened considerable as we were blessed with a sunny walk back along the beach to Sheringham through cooling waters. Newfoundland Dogs were demonstrating just why they are so well known for water-rescue. A remarkable show of strength as one dog pulled a chain of nine men to the safety of the shore. The Lobster Inn at Sheringham provided some tasty evening meals along with a fine selection of real ales. Our day concluded when the train arrived back in Ipswich at approximately 9.45pm. Many thanks to those who took part. It is hoped this event will be repeated during the summer of 2009.
